After a meeting of the leadership of the Bulgarian Association of Software Companies (BASCOM) and Education Minister Meglena Kuneva it became clear that IT business wants to invest in the training of students. The organization intends to train 6000 children annually.
This measure was taken because of the shortage of staff in the IT sector and the few willing specialization in universities. "The numbers in universities do not reach an IT business, that's why we turn to secondary education and begin to teach children from less." - Commented Stamen Kochkov, President of BASCOM.
The idea is, within 2-3 years, students can become specialists in programming. The association hopes to be able to prepare teachers for the system.
We have now developed three pilot projects which BASCOM will pay with its own funds. "The implementation of the three projects will spend their own financial resource that can reach 500 thousand. Lev" - said Kochkov.
Projects will be realizirai in three schools in the country: the Mathematics High School in Plovdiv High School of Mathematics "Baba Tonka" in Ruse and a school in Sofia.
By BASCOM turned to the Ministry of Education with an appeal to support the initiative and help financially to expand the project. The association wants the country to set up 20 training centers.
