"Imena.bg" is the first domain in Cyrillic and already exists in the global Internet space. The address was created after the board of directors of the International Corporation for Internet names and addresses have accepted the request of the company "Imena.BG" AD, which will act as an organization - register the domain of high Cyrillic.
The top level domain ".bg" was offered twice in the past but was rejected by ICANN. The first proposal to create such a domain is sent on October 24, 2007. by "UNINET." Only in 2010. to receive an official response from ICANN, which says that the proposal was rejected because of excessive visual similarity of ".bg" with that of the existing ".br".
Despite the refusal, the Bulgarian government sent a second proposal, arguing that BG is the most recognizable form among Bulgarian consumers. In 2011., ICANN rejected the proposal again for the same reasons.
After changing the rules for registration, however, ICANN changed his mind and approve the domain ".bg". Thus Bulgaria became the first country in the world, registered the domain in Cyrillic.
The Ministry of Transport reported that the state will participate in the drawing up of lists for keeping the names of state authorities and municipalities. Thus names such as "sofiya.bg" for example, can be claimed and registered by local authorities in stolitsata.Tezi lists will help to preserve the good name and reputation of the domain ".bg".
There will be three stages of registration, during which priority will register domain names of organizations under the name, such as companies or registered trademarks.
